Once again it's a matter of working with your developers in being clear in requirements and testing as changes are made to ensure these issues are trapped as early as possible.
Ask your SSW developer to add a test case which will mean in the future important functionality will never "disappear" or break. The earlier you do this, the less pain you'll have down the track.
